Both proofreading and copyediting require an attention to detail as well as the ability to read for the big picture. As a freelance editor, I aim to help writers express themselves to the best of their ability in their own voice (not mine). The focus is on accuracy, consistency, and clarity. For more than 25 years, I’ve worked with book publishers, magazines, and news outlets on both ends of the freelance relationship–both as a project manager and as a freelance worker myself. So I have a deep and abiding respect for the almighty deadline!
